We made a trip out to the Batesville KOA. The KOA checking was an old gas station and they have maintained gas pumps this is an excellent setup to handle large RV rigs. The KOA was also part of Thousand Trails RV Resort system, a system where you can buy into the camp season and camp as often as you want. The size of the “lake” was not what the map made it out to be.
Saturday we went canoeing with our Cub Scout troop at Green Acres. We went on a 3 mile canoe trip, the river was low but not to low where we had to get out and walk the canoe. The canoe rental had a program where the kids took a bag and if they brought it back with trash they were able to get an snow cone. We started the trip about 9am and the fog was so thick that we did not see the sun. After about an hour out on the water the fog gave way to the sun and temperature warmed up to the point the kids were swimming next to the canoe instead of riding in it. Overall, the day started with David not wanting to go on the trip and ended up that he did not want to get out after the 3 hourish tour.
The good thing with the “lake” being on the back site of the site, the kids were able to fish with out leaving the campsite and the bluegill love hotdogs. I spent most of the time going from Leeann to David and back fixing, unhooking fish, baiting, or something related to fishing.
We ended the evening roasting marshmallows around the fire ring.
